MAC and Hello Kitty collaboration

When we first heard about the MAC and Hello Kitty collaboration, it seemed so far away. Now the day so many of us are looking forward is almost here! I’m not going to pretend I’m not excited about this collection, I so am. Next week MAC’s Hello Kitty collection will be available in stores but if you were lucky to attend an unveiling party at a store in your area, lucky you already have some Hello Kitty goodness in your hands.

Today we’ll be looking at what’s in the makeup and accessories collections. Let’s start with what’s in the makeup collection (as pictured):

MAC Cosmetics

Today WWD announced that MAC Cosmetics has teamed up with Hello Kitty to release 2 product collections in February 2009. This is prompting MAC addicts and Hello Kitty fans everywhere to loose their mind with excitement, including me. :)

MAC Cosmetics Hello Kitty Collection

Some fellow beauty bloggers have seen the collection up close and personal at a MAC event earlier this week. Unfortunately being in Seattle works against me in this case or else I could tell you more but from what I’m seeing here, I already want it all! Word also has it that the packaging this time around will not dissapoint, unlike Fafi’s.

MAC Cosmetics has teamed up with Sanrio Global Consumer Products to create a Hello Kitty color cosmetics collection.

The line will arrive on MAC’s Web site Feb. 10, in North American stores on Feb. 12 and into overseas stores in March.

“MAC has been mining pop culture since the brand was founded,” said John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. “This is a sexy and innocent fashion line, and a true MAC moment. In these times, everyone can use a little fun — and a little Kitty.”

“The partnership was a no-brainer,” said James Gager, senior vice president and creative director of MAC Worldwide. “We cater to people who love to play with makeup.”

While in many licensing partnerships, the licensor shops his or her property around, MAC went after Sanrio, Hello Kitty’s owner, to do the deal. “They had never done makeup before, and I was certain that all those women who already own a bit of Hello Kitty would also want to own branded makeup,” said Gager.

“We are thrilled to partner with a brand that shares the vision of offering an innovative, authentic and transforming experience to our loyal fan base,” said Janet Hsu, president of Sanrio. Sanrio’s worldwide retail sales of licensed products for 2007 is estimated at $5 billion.

Makeup for girls

It is important to look good with your makeup but knowing some good basic

shopping rules might give you extra help. These tips will give you a little savings for your pocketbook as well as let you look smart and beautiful.

1. Get techniques from your favorite store, cosmetics sales ladies are trained to have an entire arsenal of makeup tricks, so have your looks done and remember how it was done.

2. Write the colors and the brands that the sales lady used, so if you have extra cash, you may shop right away.

3. Get samples and try them out, especially foundations, concealers and lipsticks.

4. Always ask for sample sizes before deciding to buy the actual one.

5. There are so many cosmetics available in the store so be sure to choose the right ones for your skin type.

6. Purchase some hypoallergenic cosmetics.

7. Have samples tested on your skin at least 24 hours before application to know if it fits well with your skin type.Cosmetics, cosmetic brands, women cosmetic ,indian cosmetics

Recession friendly £1 face cream to hit British shelves soon

Recession friendly £1 face cream to hit British shelves soon

London, August 12 : A recession friendly face cream priced at only 1 pound is set to hit the British shelves next week.

The moisturiser, the cheapest one at Superdrug, apparently comes in a basic 150ml white plastic pot with a choice of camomile or fragrance-free formulas.

Superdrug's Joanna Hutton believes many women will drop fancy face creams in favour of a pocket friendly product.

"Women are getting savvier. Using the correct skin care doesn't have to mean spending hundreds of pounds on the latest technology," The Daily Express quoted her as saying.

"When women spend over 100 pounds on a moisturiser, up to 20 pounds of that price can be for the fancy packaging, celebrity advertising campaign and golden lids - in these thrift-conscious times we think it's far more chic to spend money where it matters, on the product," she added.

Bevis Man, of the British Skin Foundation charity, said: "With moisturisers, simple products that cost less can often work just as well as more expensive counterparts."
